About the Job
UCTalent is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data QA Engineer to join our team, working with a prominent client in the insurance sector. This is a full-time position with flexible remote work options, offering an initial engagement of 6 months with potential for extension. You will play a pivotal role in a strategic technology transformation program, focusing on building a modern, scalable cloud-based data platform within the Microsoft ecosystem.
The primary objective is to ensure exceptional data quality, reliability of ETL processes, and seamless integration with various partner and downstream systems as existing processes migrate from a legacy .NET environment. This role emphasizes end-to-end testing, robust test automation, and promoting best practices in an international, Agile environment that supports AI-assisted software development and quality assurance practices.

This role emphasizes end-to-end testing, robust test automation, and promoting best practices in an international, Agile environment that supports AI-assisted software development and quality assurance practices.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute comprehensive end-to-end tests for ETL processes, covering ingestion, transformation, enrichment, routing, and output layers.
- Prepare, maintain, and enhance regression tests specifically for data pipelines and API integrations.
- Design and maintain the overall quality framework, including establishing automated test coverage, ensuring pipeline validation, and performing regression assurance.
- Test inbound and outbound API integrations that facilitate communication with downstream systems.
- Validate data quality rigorously, checking for completeness, consistency, business correctness, and verifying against duplicates.
- Verify the accuracy and correctness of process migrations from legacy systems to the newly developed platform.
- Analyze logs, monitoring data, and alerts to effectively identify defects, anomalies, and potential bottlenecks within the data ecosystem.
- Collaborate closely and effectively with Data Engineers, Architects, and wider development teams.
- Actively participate in defining and continuously enhancing the testing strategy for the data platform.
- Support and contribute to QA automation initiatives, promoting and embedding testing best practices across the project.
- Leverage AI-assisted tools to support software quality and delivery processes.
- Report identified defects accurately and participate actively in root cause analysis activities.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of quality assurance processes throughout the project lifecycle.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of extensive experience as a QA Engineer / Test Engineer, with a strong focus on data quality assurance.
- Proven experience testing ETL processes and complex data pipelines.
- Strong practical knowledge of end-to-end and regression testing methodologies.
- Expertise in SQL for advanced data analysis, verification, and validation.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric.
- Understanding of Azure Data Factory (ADF) and OneLake concepts.
- Experience with Azure DevOps for automation.
- Ability to perform comprehensive data quality validation, including defining and executing data quality checks.
- Experience designing and maintaining automated tests and testing frameworks.
- Strong test automation experience.
- Experience validating integration processes and data flows.
- Proficiency in testing REST APIs.
- Ability to analyze logs, interpret monitoring solutions, and identify root causes of defects.
- Experience working effectively in Agile teams (Scrum methodology).
- Familiarity with AI-Assisted SDLC practices and tools.
- English proficiency: minimum B2+.
Preferred Requirement
- Experience in migration projects, specifically transitioning from legacy systems to new platforms.
- Knowledge of cloud-based data & analytics solutions within the Microsoft ecosystem.
- Prior experience with test automation specifically for data pipelines or APIs.
- Experience working in highly regulated industries, such as insurance or financial services.
- Experience using AI-supported tools within QA and broader software delivery processes.
- Familiarity with Databricks or Synapse.
